July - a very productive (busy) month

July at the Lizzy Curtis HQ has been one of the busiest months of the year so far. Firstly we've had Christmas in July, so the "Members' Patterns" have reflected this and it's been great fun. However, there's been loads going on beside that, so we'll come back to that in a minute.

Let's start in the Platinum Members' on line group.

We've had 2 special projects so far this year, the vintage hand made baubles...

a gorgeous Flower Basket wall hanging...

and currently we're making a fabulous Candle Cover inspired by none other than an electricity pylon!

This is a work in progress and our members are enjoying the wonderful process over a few weeks, learning in bite sized chunks.

Next we go to Lizzy's Fabulous Sewing Group on Facebook

This is Barney, not quite finished yet, an ongoing project within the group, with live tutorials from Lizzy and photos from our members showing their own beautiful Barneys in progress.

Barney is made using our new Pie Cut templates which are available to pre order - have a look in the shop, there'll be other projects to make using them, in the near future! Barney will be a quilted outdoor table cover with a hole for the brolly! Now that is pretty smart!!

As usual we have 2 members' patterns this month, that will be available for everyone to buy on August 1st, but included in Gold and Platinum membership.

Christmas in July sees us offering Jill, a fabulous cushion, the original design coming from our very own member and admin team player, Nicola Moffat.

The appliqué on the front has a 3D effect and on the back is orientated differently and "flat". It's a stunner!

A video accompanies the pattern.

The second pattern for the members this month, and everyone from August 1st, is Julea.

This is a very special lap quilt shown in Christmas fabrics but could be made in fabrics to suit any season. No formal video this time, but Lizzy has made this up in live tutorials in the group. Julea was originally designed for a workshop but has now been updated and released for everyone to enjoy. A simple pattern with a fabulous effect!

And so to the very exclusive Blue Beauty!

For 4 evenings last week, those who joined up to make Blue Beauty were able to watch comprehensive instructions via FaceBook lives, in the exclusive group called by the same name. She is a stunning lap quilt, 40" square, drawn out by hand and designed by no other than Lizzy Curtis!

Everyone has loved the sense of community, the learning, the sharing and the massive feeling of achievement during the last week. They are all at varying stages of production and that's how it should be. Some have taken their time and are enjoying watching and rewatching the tutorials, to make sure they get it just so. Others have worked like busy bees, as they wanted to get it finished. We've all had a great time and it's not over yet! The group will continue to thrive for at least a year, with all its content: videos; photos, and questions/answers.

Wow! What a busy month! What fantastic content from Lizzy and the team!

And, in amongst all this, our platinum members have been making lovely needle cases and swapping them with each other. Such fun!

If you're reading this thinking you're missing out, then you most definitely are! Have a look at the rest of the website, browse the subscription choices, check out the patterns from other months that are free to members but such great value for money to everyone. Follow Lizzy Curtis on her Facebook page - this is a great resource for finding out the news!

Check out the shop for the Blue Beauty workshops. You can still sign up for that and then join the group. You may have missed the live tutorials but they're still there and you'll have the benefit of learning from Lizzy and from the other members of the group.

Phew! Time for a coffee! Happy sewing!

Kath x

PS: please do go and look at the whole range of acrylic templates available in the shop. They always come with a free pattern and very clear instructions!
